YEAR 8 WATERWISE

Our Year 8 classes have been having a wonderful time at Waterwise in Orakei Basin. They’ve been given the opportunity to try kayaking, windsurfing, paddle boarding and sailing. Everyone worked as a team, following instructions and even helping those that fell out of their kayak or sailing boat!

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE ART ROOM?

Year 8 students have been exploring a variety of mediums this term.

Thirty of these will be part of the Sculpture on the Shore exhibition at the end of the year.

We are also learning to use Gelli plates which will be the background to our lino print fish. It looks messy but is a lot of fun.

The 3 colour reduction prints of our fish are nearly ready for the final colour. Students carve out the lino and print. They then identify the area they wish to leave the first colour, carve and print over the first one. Again they identify the area to be black, the last colour; and reprint. A complicated process, but very effective.
