Science Extension Field Trip - Thermo Fisher

On Friday October 18th Mr Nicholls and the Science Extension Group paid a visit to Zak and the team at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Thermo Fisher are an international network of biotech companies that produce a wide range of different products. The Penrose branch focuses on blood-based products largely destined for global vaccine markets.

The students were treated to a site tour which included an interactive demonstration showing how the Thermo Fisher Scientists need to dress for working in their strictly controlled sterile laboratories. The tour also enabled students to see Scientists from various disciplines working together in laboratories, processing and storage and packaging areas.

Trips like this enable our top Science students to see what a career in science could be like. Remuera Intermediate would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Zak and his team for taking the time out of their busy schedule to accommodate our budding young scientists.
